THE BIGGEST PAINTING IN THE WORLD 2012
PURPOSE
To have children of the various countries, religions and ethnic groups share the joy of
completing The Biggest Painting in the World, and, in the process, to foster their awareness for
environment, art and culture, and the world peace.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
A pilot project was started in 1996. Many “Biggest Painting in the World” painted in
the various countries in the world will be collected and sewn together into one “Biggest Painting
in the World” in 2010, which will be compressed, capsulatedw as a gift for future children.
Several events are being held in the various places on earth where children get
together and paint their pictures, such as in Bangladesh in 1996, Japan in 1998, and Thailand in 2006.
By the end of December, 2010, the pieces of white cloth (1m x 5m) for children to paint on
freely are distributed and recovered through the embassies in Japan to kindergartens, elementary
schools and other institutions in their respective countries.
By the end of December, 2010, we visited many cities throughout Japan to discuss the
date of the respective event for the Biggest Painting in the World 2012. We are going to paint pictures
with the children of the municipal kindergartens in 47 prefectures in Japan by the end of 2011.
