■ Social Business for Eastern Japan Earthquake Disaster

Project for Recovery of Local Communication and Job Creation for Women

 

■ Objectives

To create jobs for the women in the disaster areas by commissioning them to making stuffed dolls and animals.
To create the place for communication among women, which serves as their mental care.

Those mascot charms are designed by the art direction of Hiromi Inayoshi, Director General of EIP, and the illustration of Milton Glaser, who designed I LOVE NEW YORK logo.

 

■ First-ever Project to create job for women

This first-ever project has been carried out with collaboration of Corporate Aggregate Personal Support Center – Community Work “Engawa”, which offers optimum livelihood and employment support to those most in need socially, with close and individual commitment.

■ The Second Project for Women’s Job Creation

It is a job creation project for women in Aomori, for which Aomori Chuo Gakuin University and NPO “Aomori NPO Support Center” have given us their hearty cooperation.

FRIENDLY WINDOW, Aomori Chuo Gakuin University Satellite Campus, was conceived by the proposal from the student project team for achieving “Challenge for the Future: Basic Plan for Aomori Prefecture”, for creating a place to boost exchange between students and tourists from overseas and the local people of Aomori, and was established in Shinmachi Area in the center of Aomori City as a base for their interaction and providing information.

NPO “Aomori NPO Support Center” is an intermediary support organization which spreads and supports NPO activities in Aomori, by connecting and networking the broad variety of individuals and organizations such as administration and business corporations, in order to solve specific issues, with the aim to create a mature civic society.

・Community Work “Engawa”, a meeting house for about 300 households, including Asuto Nagamachi Temporary Housing, in Tashiro-ku, Sendai City.

・Oogimachi-1-chome Park Assembly House, which is located next to the temporary housing at Oogimachi 1-chome.

<First term in Sendai>

Hosted by EIP at Hibiya Public Hall on March 9, 2012

will be an event to aid the recovery and restoration of the affected areas by Earthquake and Fukushima Nuclear Plant Disaster, along with the exhibition of the Biggest Painting in the World 2012. A part of the revenue of the exhibition will be used to purchase 2000 mascot charms hand-made by the women in the affected areas in Tohoku.

 

■ Activity records and schedules

November 25, 2011: the final discussion with Mr Kanno of Personal Support Center, in which Mr Okamoto was appointed to take charge of the project.

December 4, 2011: President Kawahara and Ms Takebayashi visited Community Work “Engawa” to discuss the schedule with Mr Okamoto.
